“Deadpool” is a 2016 superhero comedy film directed by Tim Miller and starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular character. The film is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and follows the story of Wade Wilson, a former Special Forces operative who becomes a mercenary and gains accelerated healing powers after undergoing a rogue experiment.

The film is known for its irreverent humor, fourth-wall breaking, and unconventional storytelling, which set it apart from other superhero films at the time. Reynolds’ performance as the wisecracking and self-aware Deadpool was widely praised, and the film’s action sequences and visual effects were also well-received.

The film explores themes of identity, revenge, and redemption as Deadpool seeks to exact revenge on the man who ruined his life and regain his humanity. Along the way, he also forms a connection with the mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead and the X-Men member Colossus, who try to recruit him to become a hero.

“Deadpool” was a critical and commercial success, grossing over $783 million worldwide and receiving positive reviews for its humor, action, and performances. The film’s success spawned a sequel, “Deadpool 2,” and paved the way for other R-rated superhero films such as “Logan” and “Joker.”
