The film is director Seth MacFarlane’s first foray into the big screen. He wrote and directed his own work. The teddy bear in the film is also dubbed by himself.
The withdrawn John made a wish when he was a child, hoping that his toy teddy bear would come back to life and become his true friend. Miraculously, teddy (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) is alive and has lived with John for more than 20 years. Now the eldest John (Mark Wahlberg) has nothing to do and spends all day smoking, drinking and smoking marijuana with Teddy, leading a life of drunkenness. Until he meets the beautiful Laurie (Mila Kunis), he is determined to change himself. However, Teddy doesn’t like John’s new girlfriend, Laurie, and always makes trouble for Laurie everywhere, and even destroys the relationship between John and Laurie. Faced with his old friend who has been with him for many years, and his girlfriend who has just been captured, how should John deal with the relationship between the two? Can he find a balance?
“Ted” is a 2012 comedy film directed by Seth MacFarlane and starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and MacFarlane himself as the voice of the titular character, a talking teddy bear who is the best friend of John (Wahlberg).
The movie follows John and Ted as they navigate their lives in Boston, with Ted often causing mischief and getting in the way of John’s relationship with his girlfriend, Lori (Kunis).
“Ted” was a box office success, grossing over $500 million worldwide, and was praised by critics for its humor, performances, and use of special effects to bring the character of Ted to life. The film also features a supporting cast including Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale.
The movie’s success led to a sequel, “Ted 2,” as well as spin-off TV shows and merchandise featuring the character of Ted. The film is known for its irreverent humor and offbeat premise, and is often cited as a breakthrough role for MacFarlane as a director and leading man.
