“Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” is a 2019 comedy-drama film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The movie stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie, among others.
The film is set in 1969 Los Angeles and follows the story of a fading Hollywood actor named Rick Dalton (played by DiCaprio) and his stunt double and best friend Cliff Booth (played by Pitt) as they navigate the changing film industry and the shifting cultural landscape of the late 1960s. Alongside their story is that of Sharon Tate (played by Robbie), a rising actress who becomes a victim of the infamous Manson Family murders.
“Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” was praised for its nostalgic and immersive portrayal of Hollywood in the late 1960s, as well as its strong performances from its cast. The movie was also noted for its subversion of audience expectations and its exploration of themes related to celebrity culture, nostalgia, and violence. While the film received some criticism for its depiction of the Manson Family and its treatment of Tate’s character, it was a commercial and critical success, grossing over $374 million worldwide and winning numerous awards, including two Academy Awards.
