On the weekend of July 4th of a certain year, John McAllen (played by Bruce Willis), who is on vacation, received a new task: to arrest the hacker Matt Farrell (played by Justin Long) and send him to the FBI. There for interrogation.
In fact, things are not as simple as they seem: after careful planning, extremist terrorists plan to use hacking technology to paralyze the computer systems of the entire United States on the day of American Independence Day, thereby achieving their conspiracy to control the world. Moreover, Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Oliphant), the mastermind behind the scenes, prepared a lot of obstacles for him in order to prevent McAllen from intervening in this matter, including kidnapping his daughter Lucy.
Old heroes meet new problems, and with the help of Matt Farrell, McAllen continues to “live”…
“Live Free or Die Hard” is a 2007 American action film directed by Len Wiseman and starring Bruce Willis as John McClane, a New York City police detective who becomes caught up in a cyber-terrorist attack on the United States.
The film follows McClane as he is tasked with escorting a young hacker named Matt Farrell (played by Justin Long) to the FBI headquarters in Washington D.C. However, they soon find themselves targeted by a group of cyber-terrorists led by Thomas Gabriel (played by Timothy Olyphant), who are using a sophisticated computer virus to take control of the country’s infrastructure.
As McClane and Farrell try to stay alive and thwart the terrorists’ plans, they are aided by McClane’s old friend and colleague, now-retired hacker, Warlock (played by Kevin Smith).
“Live Free or Die Hard” was the fourth installment in the “Die Hard” film series and was praised for its thrilling action sequences and Willis’ performance as McClane. However, the film received criticism for its reliance on CGI effects and its departure from the more grounded tone of the earlier films in the series. Despite this, the film was a commercial success, grossing over $383 million worldwide.
