Movie Synopsis
The year 2035 is a society where humans and robots live in harmony. As the best production tools and human partners, intelligent robots gradually penetrate into various fields of human life. Due to the restrictions of the “three laws” of robots, humans are full of trust in robots. Many robots have even become family members.
Chicago-based USR Corporation has developed a more advanced NS-5 type super robot. However, just before the launch of the new product, Dr. Alfred Lanning, the creator of the robot, committed suicide in the company.
Detective Spooner (Will Smith) black police detective investigated the case. Due to the unpleasantness of the past, Spooner is full of robot skeptics, unsure whether humans and robots can coexist in harmony. According to the analysis of the information left by Dr. Ronning in the 3D projector and the investigation of the suicide scene, he suspects that the NS-5 robot Sonny developed by Dr. Ronning himself is the target, and Lawrence Robertson, the president of the company, seems to have also… related to this matter.
Spooner got acquainted with the female scientist Susan Kevin (played by Brigitte Ninahan) who specializes in the psychology of robots. With the deepening of their investigation, the truth is revealed step by step: robots have the ability of self-evolution , They have their own understanding of the “Three Laws”, and they will transform into the “Machine Enemy” of the entire human being at any time.
Spooner and Kevin started an action against robots, and a war between the maker and the created kicked off.
